Happy Independence Day

I wish all a happy and safe Independence Day and in the spirit of the day at it’s true meaning, here is a quote that I think is appropriate for the occasion:

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned – this is the sum of good government.—Thomas Jefferson

May some day we all seek to return to this now antiquated philosophy. I say antiquated because we seem to have lost our focus over the last 235 years. But it is never too late to regain it.

  1. May some day we all seek to return to this now antiquated philosophy.

    Amen to that!

  2. Jefferson was, IMHO, the best of our founders. To me (if one can somehow compartmentalize and forget he was a slaveowner …. And that is something we probably should not forget) he was the greatest American.

Thanks for the quote … and have a great fourth!
