The Anatomy Of A Skewed Poll

If you have ever wondered how the media and their pollsters can present flawed data and call it a fair and honest representation of opinion, one only needs to look at this unscientific poll in the NY Daily News. I am sure they will change it at some point when someone calls them out on it, but here it is as I found it:

Protesting

Do you think the NYPD cracked down too hard on Wall Street protesters?

Yes, the police were excessive and violent.

No, the protesters didn’t deserve that kind of treatment.

The protesters were excessive and violent or the protesters didn’t deserve that kind of treatment. Despite the fact that there was a yes or a no preceding each choice, isn’t this pretty much a different way of saying the same thing?

Just asking.

UPDATE: As I suspected, they changed it after many votes were cast. It’s hard to believe that not one editor caught that before it was published.
